Learning about investing in a safe environment is the purpose of the church’s Univestors group. Meeting monthly, this group uses tools provided by the National Association of Investors (NAIC) to make decisions about buying, holding or selling. While membership has changed during the ten years of its existence, the membership constant has always been: visitors and new members are welcome!

The basic principles that have been established:

1. Invest a set amount regularly.
2. Reinvest earnings, dividends and profits.
3. Invest in quality growth stocks
4. Diversify investments

Members invest $25 or $50 each month according to their preference; the group’s portfolio currently exceeds $45,000. It currently meets the second Monday of the month at the church. Each member receives monthly a report of transactions and their account balance.

So, if you have been thinking you wanted to hone your skills or start developing your skills in investments – or at least know which questions to ask– this may be just the opportunity for you. And having a good time in the process is almost guaranteed!
