The Committee on Mission (COM) is dedicated to working with the entire congregation to promote and uphold our mission of Grow/Act/Care.  We are a group of six members of the church appointed by the Board for three-year terms.  Last year we made a name change from the Committee on Ministry to the Committee on Mission.  The change was made to better reflect the church’s change to dynamic governance as well as to recognize the combination of the Communications Panel with the Committee on Ministry.   Members of the COM for 2009-2010 year are Graham Driver, Suzanne Short, Kathleen VanPaasschen, Phil Heesen, Denise Rimes, and Christina Arnold. 

The COM encourages open communication within the congregation, and anyone who has feedback about the church is invited to speak with any member of the COM.  Be assured that we will honor you and everything you say with confidentiality. We will be contacting the major committees of the church to ensure a channel of communication and to observe how the mission of the church is being supported.   We also look to assist in the early stages of conflict resolution and will make ourselves available to the members of the church community.  Look for our brightly colored green name tags on Sunday if you want to talk with one of us about your concerns. 

Since 2003 we have administered the annual survey.  After analysis of all the information, data and comments are shared with the entire congregation along with specific committees and councils to which the information directly relates.  We have found that the trends we are developing help guide the church in long-range planning as well as identify the current status of programs and operations. 

We recognize that ministry is the responsibility of the entire congregation and will encourage all congregants in that pursuit. We encourage feedback – comments, criticisms, AND congratulations – to better support our church and its mission.    The COM looks forward to hearing from you!
