We have many opportunities for involvement at First UU of Richmond. There are education opportunities for all ages on Sunday mornings, through a variety of  adult religious education classes, and through our Wednesday night adult enrichment program.

Wanting to have discussions or practice in a particular tradition? Then you are welcome to visit our Buddhist, Humanist, and Taoist groups which meet regularly. We also have a contemplative Vespers service on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM, in addition to our Sunday services.

Whether you are looking to deepen your involvement with our church community or with the Greater Richmond community, we offer many groups at all different times during the week which provide fellowship, learning opportunities, spiritual enrichment, and the opportunity to give of yourself to those in need. Keep checking our calendar to see how you can become involved.

First UU is a multi-generational community of seekers looking to live honestly, gently, and with optimism about life and humanity. Join us!

If you’d like to visit and have children that will attend our Sunday morning Religious Education classes while you attend services, please print out a registration form to bring with you.

To find out more about the classes and other programming we offer for adults, take a look at our latest religious education offerings.

Two workshops for newcomers are offered regularly:

  • Newcomers Guide to Unitarian Universalism,  June 2, 9-11 AM — This workshop will introduce you to Unitarian Universalism and help you begin to discern whether or not this may be your spiritual home. We explore our own upbringings, explore how our beliefs change over our lifetime, and learn a little about UU history. At the end of the class, you’ll receive a Membership Enrollment Kit that will go over important information concerning your next steps. When you’re ready to take those steps, you’re ready for the Pathway to Membership class!
  • Pathway to Membership, April 24 and 25, 6:30-8:30 PM (childcare available upon request, attendance to both nights requested); June 15, 9 AM-1 PM — This class is designed to answer your questions that concern BEING a member here at First UU. What does that mean?

No registration is required for the Newcomers Guide workshop, but RSVP your intent to attend Pathways by emailing Pat Owen. Light snacks will be provided  for each class.
