Soul Matters
You may have noticed First UU uses Soul Matters monthly themes for worship and religious education. These same themes are also used for small groups. The small groups allow participants to directly experience the themes and go deeper into them more personally. The monthly materials include spiritual practices, activities, meaningful quotes, videos, and podcasts with which you engage on your own and then come together once a month to share your experiences and listen to other’s experiences within your group. This sharing provides an opportunity for individuals to make deep and meaningful connections and create community. As we grow in spirit and in community, we are more able to act in the service of justice and figure out what is ours to do!
During our pilot program this past spring, we welcomed 25-30 participants across 3 different groups to experience themes of Trust, Joy, Imagination, and Freedom. Now it is time to begin planning for the full 2025-2026 year series this fall! Once we finalize our group of facilitators and check verify calendars, we will announce the day, times, and locations of our group meetings. Our 2025-2026 themes are:
- September – Building Belonging
- October – Cultivating Compassion
- November – Nurturing Gratitude
- December – Choosing Hope
- Jan – Practicing Resistance
- Feb – Embodying Resilience
- Mar – Paying Attention
- Apr – Embracing Possibility
- May – Awakening Curiosity
- June – Flourishing Together
