Holiday Messages for Incarcerated UU’s – Worthy Now Prison Ministry

Prison ministry is a shared responsibility for all Unitarian Universalists, not just those directly involved with the Church of the Larger Fellowship (CLF). It requires a commitment by our entire UU community to support and engage with those who are experiencing incarceration, providing them with a sense of connection and hope. When you support Worthy Now, you are stewarding Unitarian Universalism.

Mitten Tree 2025: Supporting the CARITAS North Pole

Pair of green mittens with yellow snowflake patterns and a red connecting string.Mitten Tree 2025 begins Sunday November 9th and ends Sunday December 7th. First UU’s Mitten Tree project has a long tradition of supporting those in need during the holiday season in our greater Richmond community. This year we are providing gifts to the residents living at CARITAS. The name Caritas comes from the Latin wording meaning LOVE and COMPASSION, qualities this congregation has in abundance. The organization’s holiday giveaway will provide participants with gifts donated by the community. Please help us reach our commitment to CARITAS this holiday season.

If you are attending services in person on Sundays November 9th through November 30th, stop by the Mitten Tree table just outside the Great Hall doors. You may choose as many Mittens as you like. If you are unable to be with us in person or are not fond of shopping and would like to support the Mitten Tree, cash donations may be made at the Mitten Tree table. You can also donate through the FirstUU page, powered by Vanco by selecting “General Fund”, notating “Mitten Tree” on the memo line. All Mitten Tree gifts must be returned to First UU no later than Sunday December 7th.

Thank you for “making caring visible” in support of our greater community.
