Suspicious Scam Clues

  1. fake Gmail account: Newsletters and and other emails come from communications@richmonduu.org
  2. vague subject line does not indicate reason for email
  3. Hi with no name
  4. vague help language in the body of the email: bit a a bind
  5. secretive language that is also grammatically awkward: something that needs discreet handling
  6. False urgency: Please email me back as soon as you can.
  7. Critical thinking: Contacted via email and asked to email back. Vague information given to cause confusion. Real reason: for email back is to capture your email address and fall into scam digital mousetrap
  8. Email signature has incorrect name, and title
