Churches for Middle East Peace: a Facilitated dialogue:
The Landscape of Israel & Palestine Today

More than 50 church and community members gathered in December to engage in dialogue facilitated by Destiny Magnett from Churches of Middle East Peace (CMEP). To continue learning with and from each other, the board and ministry team has invited Destiny and CMEP back for another dialogue this Sunday, Feb 22 after service, with plans to offer continued exploration and dialogue together in the future.
We envision these conversations as opportunities to learn, listen, and share with openness and curiosity. For these conversations, we will establish shared norms to help us engage with each other as community members seeking deepened connection and awareness. We believe these conversations may be difficult at times – and we also see them as the sacred work of building beloved community.
Light snacks will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own lunch or snacks as well.

The board of First UU has asked Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) to assist us with leading a learning and conversation opportunity regarding the conflict in the Middle East and specifically the crisis in Gaza. All who are interested are welcome to join an introductory session on December 7 after service. We will share a potluck lunch, spend time listening to our community members’ hopes for expanded engagement on this issue, and hear from CMEP about their curriculum “The Search for Peace and Justice in the Holy Land” and how they have used it with other UU churches. After this session, the board will work with CMEP to determine how First UU can best use their curriculum in early 2026. Please plan to participate in this important conversation on December 7, which will be held on the lower level from 11:30 to 1:30pm. Bring a dish to share, and an open mind and heart!
