Grow in Wisdom
We offer faith development for all ages, starting from Pre-K. Our spiritual journeys have different challenges at each life stage. Family Learning and Multigenerational Enrichment (FLAME) offers programs centered around youth. Adult Formation Growth Groups, geared toward age-, life-stage-, and interest-appropriate focuses, provide opportunities for community, spiritual deepening, reflection, and learning about oneself and the wider world.
Sunday mornings are not the only way or only day to practice your faith. We practice our faith when we join in an experience of spiritual deepening. There are groups that offer you a way to practice and deepen your Unitarian Universalist faith. Our faith has many paths to spiritual maturity.
Spiritual Enrichment Programming
Adult Spiritual Formation Groups
Adult Formation offers opportunities for adults to grow their faith and reflect on their spiritual journey.
Family Learning and Multigenerational Enrichment (FLAME)
We offer enriching programs for all of us, from our youngest to our young-at-heart. First UU supports and nurtures our young people as they explore and deepen their personal faith. Relationships and connection are the primary focus, with much opportunity for deepening our understanding of Unitarian Universalism. All children and youth programming occurs on Sunday mornings during worship service, unless otherwise noted.
Shifting Paradigms Readings and Discussion Series
This series of readings and discussions is meant to expand our collective imagination around ways of being in the world that many of us have never experienced firsthand.
Soul Matters Discussion Groups
Discuss the Soul Matters monthly themes in small groups to explore how we directly experience the themes and go deeper into them more personally.
UUA Common Read
Love at the Center: Unitarian Universalist Theologies. In addition to the reading, the UUA provides a curriculum of resources, including a framework for 5 sessions of exploration of the book’s 29 essays organized within a “Rings of Love” model, allowing us to investigate how “Love’s call moves through every part of our lives.
Vespers Wednesday Worship
Vespers is an intimate, conversational half-hour evening worship service held on the first Wednesday of the month, during which we tend to focus more on spiritual practice and contemplation.
Small Groups Based on Stage of Life
Young Adult Group (UUYA)
Our YoUUng Adult Group is a group in their 20s and 30s who enjoy socializing, supporting one another on life's journey, spiritually exploring together, and having fun. This group meets after worship on second Sundays and occasionally plans other group service project activities. Bring your brown-bag lunch and get to know some other "YoUUngish" UUs!
Women’s Wisdom Circles
Women's Wisdom Circles meet to discuss life's lessons and grow together in friendship and wisdom. Our hearts are open in love and acceptance to each woman's journey. We listen intentionally and deeply to the wisdom and love that each woman has to share within the structure of the circle. Three different groups meet on first Thursdays and second Mondays at 7 pm. WWC is a circle of trust and vulnerability, so we are only open to new members approximately every 6 months.
Rainbow Chalice
Acknowledging, Supporting, and Celebrating Our UU LGBTQIA+ Community
We seek to heal the scars of religious, social, political, and cultural trauma in the LGBTQIA+ community by creating a safe space that goes beyond acceptance and uses UU’s unique theology of love, radical hospitality, and transformation to uplift and give us a voice, visibility, and a place at the table. We meet in person on third Wednesdays at 6 pm and gather for special events.
Parents’ Circle
A chance for parents with children at home to gather for conversation and socializing. Open to members and visitors. Meets on third Sundays at 11:15 am.
Men’s Meeting Discussion Group (M2)
We meet to provide friendship and support to each other to help us grow and evolve as individuals and as a community. We strive to become men with a strong inner sense of who we truly are so that we can express this with others and in our actions. By sharing this journey with other men, we endeavor to support each other on our path and thrive in a changing world. The purpose is to provide a space for men’s discussion in confidence. Meet on second and fourth Wednesdays at 7 pm.
GenXrs
This group is an opportunity for church members who identify as being in or around GenX age to come together for connection. The group will focus on social, spiritual, and community connection. As members of the “sandwich generation,” we face unique responsibilities and challenges that differ from those of other age groups. By coming together, we can build meaningful connections, support one another through shared experiences, and foster a stronger sense of community. This group will provide care, encouragement, and fellowship while strengthening relationships within the church and supporting its mission of community and connection.
Daytimers
Daytimers was founded with the idea that many people are available during the day and feel the need to make connections. Each month there might be a speaker on a specific subject or just a get-together. Our programs have included various aspects of our church history to various initiatives of the church. We meet on the second Wednesdays at 11 am. Members either bring a bag lunch or we go out to lunch.
Aging Minds Support Group
This group is for people who have concerns about their memory or have been diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment. The group members will share their concerns, feelings, and experiences, as well as helpful resources. We meet on the first and third Tuesdays, 2–3:30 p.m. in person at the church.
End-of-Life Journey
To educate our members and, when deemed appropriate, our larger church community on end-of-life related matters so we are well informed about our options as we chart our individual paths forward, with the goal of living out the final chapters of our lives in accord with our personal values and wishes.
