Elder Justice Initiative
May 17, 11:30 am, Alcove B
The local Area Agency on Aging,– The SPAN Center (formerly Senior Connections) has received a federal grant to provide housing and support to unhoused, older adults who have or may experience abuse or exploitation.  First UU church, along with several other area congregations, has been invited to form a Care Team which will be paired with one of these older residents in the program.  Our Care Team members will provide support to the individual by offering social connection, encouragement, assistance with various independent living skills such as budgeting, transportation for medical appointments, etc., as the resident becomes more and more confident living on his own.
If you would like to find out more about this compassionate and rewarding ministry and how we as a care team can offer meaningful support to an elder participant in transition to safe, stable and affordable housing, please join us on Sunday, May 17 in Alcove B across from the library,11:30-12:30 for an information sharing session.  No commitment required. For more information, contact Wayne Swatlowski, gravski@aol.com.
