A Capital Campaign for Advancing the Mission of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond

Some Background

The current building has served the congregation well since 1972, but we have identified a need

  • To make the building more welcoming and accessible,
  • To focus on sustainability by using more energy-efficient lighting, windows, roofing, and related systems, and
  • To provide new spaces (RE classrooms, a kitchen, a new library, a staff office complex) that will enable us to fully support our missionYou can view a pdf version of the presentation and recommendations of BCWH Architects in which the needs are identified and solutions recommended.

    At the annual meeting the congregation voted unanimously to move forward with a capital campaign that will raise over $2.8 million in the coming year. Currently the campaign is beginning its silent phase with a kick-off expected in November or December of 2011.

    Committees of the Campaign

    The Steering Committee and the Financial Oversight Committee were established as ad hoc committees of the Board. The Communications & Public Relations Committee reports to the Steering Committee.
